The Damned have announced the Final Damnation 50 Tour.
The renowned British punk band — Dave Vanian on vocals, Captain Sensible on guitar, Rat Scabies on drums, Paul Gray on bass and long-time keyboardist Monty Oxymoron — will celebrate their 50th anniversary with shows in Brighton, London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Derby and Birmingham between November 25 and December 5.
Support will come from Australian punk legends The Saints '73-'78. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on May 1. Rat Scabies said:
“Half a century on and who’d have thought we would still be upright and breathing? We never thought we’d make it this far and neither did you! But here we are, a finely tuned engine. The Damned still has the power and finesse to excite, entertain and accelerate into our 50th year.”
Captain Sensible added: “With 50 years of catalogue to choose from, only the best songs from our chequered history will be performed, and with the passion and commitment all good music lovers deserve. You know we won’t disappoint.”
The announcement follows their 50th anniversary career-spanning celebration at London's OVO Arena Wembley on April 11, where they were joined by special guests The Loveless featuring Marc Almond, Peter Hook and The Light, and The Courettes.
Back in January, The Damned released the covers album 'Not Like Everybody Else', which they dedicated to their founding guitarist Brian James, who passed away in March last year aged 70. Their latest studio album, 'Darkadelic', came out in 2023, followed by two live LPs in 2024.
Prior to their winter UK shows, the band will headline a show for Glasgow's Big Nights Out concert series at the Kelvingrove Bandstand on June 7, tour Australia and New Zealand in September, then travel across North America in October and November. Tickets for those dates are already on sale.
