Peter Wilson, aka Duke Special, is a piano-based folk singer-songwriter hailing from Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Known for his romantic style tracks, his soft and accented voice, and his unique style - which he describes as ‘hobo chic’ - he’s been working as a solo musician since 2002.
Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen, Duke Special released his debut EP ‘Lucky Me’ in 2002, he’s gone on to put out a number of albums, singles, and EPs, and his first two records - 2005’s ‘Adventures in Gramophone’ and 2006's ‘Songs from the Deep Forest’ - were both nominated for the Choice Music Prize. He released his latest LP 'Oh Pioneer' in 2012, his seventh full length offering.
Following a year-long residency of six concerts at Belfast's Empire Hall in December 2013 and a series of intimate gigs in the Scottish Highlands and Islands in August 2014, 2015 saw a spring UK tour and a brand new LP called 'Watch Out Machines!', which was followed by a headline gig in London that May.
Duke Special follows his 2017 autumn UK tour with more performance dates in February 2018.
