Julien Baker is an American indie singer-songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. Starting her music career in 2010, as a member of the band Forrister, she released her debut solo album, ‘Sprained Ankle’, in 2015. She signed to Matador Records in 2017.
Julien Baker enjoyed a busy 2017, playing Manchester and London in June and more UK and Ireland shows in November, as well as gigs across Europe, Canada and the US too. She also released her second record, 'Turn Out the Lights'.
Julien Baker played US shows in spring 2018, before heading to Europe for summer headline shows and festivals. In September, Baker plays UK and Ireland dates. Additionally, Baker has started a new project called boygenius, alongside Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers; they tour North America later in the year.

It’s not always the case that a cover version tells us something about the artist performing it. Sometimes they barely register as an empty gesture. But Julien Baker’s take on Badlands - recorded live at the Newport Folk Festival last summer - is a perfect exception.
