Russell Lissack, guitarist with British indie act Bloc Party was recently taken to hospital after being bitten by a lion.
Lissack had been touring with Ash in South Africa, where the incident occurred. He was playing with a lion cub at a wild animal sanctuary, where the cub bit him and drew blood. The guitarist was taken to hospital nearby and treated with a tetanus booster.
After being discharged from the hospital, things were looking better for Lissack. However, crew members were soon informed that the hospital had been sealed off just hours after their visit after two men had died of an unidentified virus.
To make matters worse on a bad day for Lissack, the band suffered a minor car collision on the journey back from the hospital.
Russell Lissack has been touring with Ash while Bloc Party is on an extended hiatus. The band is now back in the UK, getting ready to release the second part of their 'A-Z' singles compilation.
Besides his work with Bloc Party and Ash, Lissack has also been touring with Pin Me Down, a side project fronted by American singer Milena Mepris.
