Slash: "'Apocalyptic Love' Collaborator Myles Kennedy And I Have Great Chemistry"

Guitar god Slash has opened up about his forthcoming new Myles Kennedy collaboration album 'Apocalyptic Love', which is set to hit shelves on May 22nd.
The new record has been recorded alongside Alter Bridge star Myles Kennedy and their rhythm section The Conspirators, and sees Slash combining his classic sound with some new ideas and styles from Kennedy and co. Speaking to M Live, the ex-Guns n' roses star has revealed how the group went about recording the album.
“I come in with all the music ideas, and [Kennedy] takes it from there,” Slash explained. “It’s an organic kind of thing. I’ll come up with arrangements, but keep them open-ended for him. He’s a guitar player as well. Working with him is great – it’s kind of a blessing. We have great chemistry. It just works. He’s just as nuts as I am about digging in and doing it. He’ll try anything. There’s a great synergy between the two of us.”
He went on to talk about how the record has more of a 'live' feel, saying: “[The way we recorded] wasn’t really that much different from when I started playing music. I’ve always recorded bass, drums and rhythm guitar live. I hate wearing headphones, so I’ve always recorded guitars with big monitors set up, so I get that live feel. Recording the guitars without headphones is more immediate and spontaneous – there’s a sense of urgency to it.”
Finally, he praised his backing back The Conspirators, saying: “Right now, I’m playing with the best rhythm section since the early GNR days. I named them the Conspirators, because they deserve their own name.”
Slash currently has one UK dated lined-up for June, but the release of this new album could see some UK or European dates alongside Kennedy and The Conspirators announced soon.
