Savages vocalist Jehnny Beth has shared a new solo song.
The harsh, industrial I'm The Man is one of three unreleased tracks that appear on the Peaky Blinders soundtrack, which is due out on November 15.
The record also boasts contributions from PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Arctic Monkeys, the White Stripes, Anna Calvi, Richard Hawley, Royal Blood, the Last Shadow Puppets, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Laura Marling, Foals and more.
Speaking about the song, Beth said:
“‘I’m The Man’ is an attempted study on humankind, what we define as evil and the inner conflict of morality. Because it is much easier to label the people who are clearly tormented by obsessions as monsters than to discern the universal human background which is visible behind them. However, this song has not even a remote connection with a sociological study, collective psychology, or present politics; It is a poetic work first and foremost. Its aim is to make you feel, not think.”
This is her second solo venture, the first being the soundtrack for XY Chelsea, a documentary about Chelsea Manning, that she co-wrote and recorded with producer Johnny Hostile.
