Sleaford Mods Post Video For New Single Second

Tuesday, 05 May 2020 Written by Sophie Williams

Sleaford Mods have shared a video for their new single, Second.

The Robin Lee-directed clip sees actresses Kate Dickie and Emma Stansfield perfectly imitate a typical setup of the electronic punk duo’s early gigs, complete with pints aplenty and a Fred Perry polo. Check it out below.

The pulsating track, meanwhile, utilises the Mods’ winning mix of vocalist Jason Williamson’s semi-spoken word delivery and Andrew Fearn’s repeated breaks of looping synths and basslines.

Williamson said: “It was recorded in early 2017 just after the ‘English Tapas’ sessions. We don’t really do it now, but back in the day we would be back in the studio as soon as an album was in the can. This session was typical of that. We did about six songs if I recall. I’d rather have a proper cooling-off period these days, but there were a few good ideas in that session and this was one of them.”

Second will feature on their forthcoming eleventh LP, ‘All That Glue’, which will arrive on May 15 via Rough Trade Records.
