Elvis Costello Unveils New Track Newspaper Pane

Friday, 16 October 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Elvis Costello has shared a new song.

Following Hey Clockface/How Can You Face Me?, Newspaper Pane opens with dark, haunting tones punctuated by vocals, with a horn arrangement weaving through an organ melody and brooding guitar lines. It was written and produced in New York by composer and arranger Michael Leonhart in collaboration with guitarist Bill Frisell.

The track will feature on the singer-songwriter's forthcoming LP, 'Hey Clockface', due out on October 30 via Concord Records. It'll also include the previous early teasers We Are All Cowards NowNo Flag and Hetty O’Hara Confidential.

Costello's last full-length was 2018's 'Look Now'. Back in spring, he postponed his UK tour dates in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with new dates yet to be announced. Keep up to date in real time with new information via Stereoboard.
