Foo Fighters have released a new EP.
'Live On the Radio 1996' is available to stream and buy exclusively on Amazon Music. It was recorded during the ROCKLINE radio show by producer Scott Weiss, who is currently a digital audio producer for Amazon Music.
The record includes acoustic versions of non-album track How I Miss You, Up In Arms from 1997's 'The Colour And The Shape', and For All the Cows and Wattershed from their 1995 self-titled debut. The latter finds frontman Dave Grohl changing the lyrics to tell a story about a trip to Canada in the style of the B-52s' vocalist Fred Schneider. Weiss said:
“The band laughed and then dove in and started to work up the idea. The show would cut away for commercials and [Foo Fighters] would practice the new Wattershed idea. The version of Wattershed that would soon be known as ‘Water Fred’ was born.”
Head here to check out the EP via Amazon. Its release coincides with the band's 25th anniversary celebrations, which were due to include The Van Tour across North America, but the shows were pulled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Foo Fighters put out their last studio album, 'Concrete and Gold', in 2017. More recently, they were announced for Tom Petty's 70th Birthday Bash which takes place on October 23. Head here for details.
