Ringo Starr Announces 'Zoom In' EP, Shares Star-Studded New Song Here's To The Nights

Thursday, 17 December 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Ringo Starr has announced a new EP featuring a slew of high-profile guests.

'Zoom In' will arrive on March 19 via Universal and comprises five tracks recorded at the former Beatles drummer's home studio during the COVID-19 lockdown period. It follows his 20th studio LP, 'What's My Name', which landed in 2019.

As a preview, a Diane Warren-penned collaboration titled Here's To The Nights was shared on December 15. The uplifting piano-led track boasts backing vocals from Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Finneas, Sheryl Crow, Chris Stapleton, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper, Dave Grohl, Jenny Lewis, Corinne Bailey Rae, Eric Burton, and Yola. Starr said:

"When Diane presented this song to me I loved the sentiment of it. This is the kind of song we all want to sing along to, and it was so great how many wonderful musicians joined in.

"I wanted it out in time for New Years because it feels like a good song to end a tough year on. So here’s to the nights we won’t remember and the friends we won’t forget – and I am wishing everyone peace and love for 2021."

Additionally, the EP features contributions from Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, the Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench on piano, violinist Charlie Bisharat, cellist Jacob Braun and the Doors’ Robby Krieger, who plays guitar on the tongue-in-cheek, pandemic-era Zoom In, Zoom Out. Check out the tracklist and EP cover art below.

In related news, McCartney is set to release his new LP, 'McCartney III', this Friday (December 18).

'Zoom In' tracklist:

1. Here’s To The Nights
2. Zoom In Zoom Out
3. Teach Me To Tango
4. Waiting For The Tide To Turn
5. Not Enough Love In The World
