Kae Tempest Announces Fifth Album 'Self Titled', Shares New Single Know Yourself

Kae Tempest will release his fifth studio album this summer.
The follow-up to 2022's 'The Line Is a Curve' is called 'Self Titled' and will arrive through Island Records on July 4.
Comprising 12 tracks, it was co-produced by Tempest and Grammy-winner Fraser T Smith, who also guests on the record along with Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant, Connie Constance, Young Fathers, and Tawiah.
The London rapper teased the album with Statue In The Square last month, with a second single arriving in the form of Know Yourself, which looks at self-discovery and resilience through spoken word and melodic elements, underpinned by atmospheric production. Tempest said:
"I love this song. It samples a lyric I wrote years ago, where my younger self is talking to their younger self. A dialogue between selves across time, in real time. Or maybe I could put that simpler – When I was young I sought help from my older self. I came into my head, I told me know yourself."
Having headlined BBC Radio 6 Music Festival in Manchester last month, Tempest will play shows in Exeter and Oxford in June, ahead of performances at Glastonbury Festival on June 29 and Deer Shed in Yorkshire on July 26. Tempest will also support Fontaines D.C. at Cardiff Castle on July 30. Tickets are on sale now.
