Peter Doherty has shared a final early single ahead of the release of his new album.

Inspired by his daughter, Billie-May, the strings-laden Pot Of Gold marks the fourth preview of 'Felt Better Alive', his first solo record in nine years, due out via his own Strap Originals label this Friday (May 16). Doherty explained:

"After Billie-May was old enough to move about, it became difficult to get five minutes alone at home with the guitar. So, the only way to do it is to engage her. I’d sing her lullabies, about things she likes, a teddy, and in the end she’d join in and dance along. Rather than, ‘shurrup, I’m trying to write’ or run away to a different room. Get her involved!"

Pot Of Gold arrives with a video directed by Thad and Numa, featuring Doherty's family and a cast of puppets. It follows previous cuts Calvados, The Day The Baron Died and title track.

Doherty will play a Spotlight Show at Brighton's The Great Escape Festival tonight (May 14), showcasing his Strap Originals label, before celebrating the album's release with in-store gigs in Leeds, Liverpool, Nantwich, Kingston and London between May 16 and 21.

He'll also play a number of UK and European dates over the coming months, including In It Together festival in South Wales later this month, Together Again in Cheshire in July, and Sheffield's Don Valley Bowl in August as part of the Rock N Roll Circus series. Tickets are on sale now.

Meanwhile, The Libertines, whose latest album is 2024's 'All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade', will play Glastonbury Festival on June, 29, Dreamland for the Margate Summer Series on July 5, the Eden Sessions on July 13, Live At The Piece Hall in Halifax on August 8, and London's Gunnersbury Park on August 9, where they'll host their own festival. Tickets for those dates are on sale now.
