Sugar have released another new single.
The American alt-rockers, fronted by Bob Mould between his Hüsker Dü years and solo career, reformed for the first time in three decades last October, releasing House Of Dead Memories, their first new music in 30 years. The track will be available as a 7" single through BMG on May 1.
The trio, completed by bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis, have now shared another new song, Long Live Love, which serves as the b-side to House Of Dead Memories and similarly showcases their signature '90s guitar-driven alt-rock sound. Mould said:
"I wrote ‘Long Live Love’ in 2007 while living in Washington DC. It was the George W. Bush era, I was deep in my DJ world with Blowoff, yet still writing pop songs on guitars. Garbage 2.0 is one of my desert island albums, so it’s not surprising that ‘Long Live Love’ reminds me of a long lost Garbage song!"
The band have also announced a reunion tour, with dates scheduled across Europe and the UK in spring, followed by a US tour in the summer and fall. Billed as the Love You Even Still World Tour, it'll follow their previously announced, sold-out shows in New York and London in May. Tickets for the new dates go on general sale at 10am local time on January 30.
Formed in 1991, Sugar arrived on the scene with their debut album 'Copper Blue' in 1992, followed by 'File Under: Easy Listening' in 1994, the 'Besides' compilation in 1995, and a live album recorded in 1994, but not released until two decades later.
Last November, they put out a limited four-LP box set of singles, b-sides and more titled 'Copper Blue - The Singles Collection' for Record Store Day's Black Friday event.
NEW // More Sugar dates, you ask? Oh, go on then.
With two nights in London already in the diary, the '90s cult alt-rockers have added a BUNCH of shows across the UK and Ireland to their spring tour plans, due to massive demand.
