Marc Almond is a singer-songwriter from Southport.

Staring his music career in 1978, he is widely recognised as the frontman of synth-pop act Soft Cell, with whom he has released five albums. The band are well known for the single Tainted Love, which reached #1 in the UK Singles Chart, as well as Bedsitter, Say Hello, Wave Goodbye, Torch, and What!, which were all Top Ten hits.

Almond launched his solo career in 1984 with the album ‘Vermin in Ermine’, and has released over 20 solo albums to date, with the latest being 2020's 'Chaos And A Dancing Star'.
