PJ Harvey, real name Polly Jean Harvey, is a British singer-songwriter and musician from Bridport, Dorset.
Starting her music career in 1988, when she joined the band Automatic Dlamini, she left in 1991, and started performing under the name PJ Harvey as a trio, releasing the albums ‘Dry’, in 1992, and ‘Rid of Me’, the following year. ‘Bring You My Love’, released in 1995, was her debut solo album, which she followed with ‘Is This Desire?’, in 1998, for which she won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Her fifth album, ‘Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea’, released in 2000, won the Mercury Music Prize. ‘Uh Huh Her’, was released in 2004, ‘White Chalk’, came out in 2007, and her last record, ‘Let England Shake’, came out in 2011,for which the singer won her second Mercury Music Prize. Her latest album, ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’, was released in April 2016. She has headlined her own shows and tours across Europe, including playing an Eden Session show, and appearing at festivals such as Field Day and Glastonbury. PJ Harvey played UK shows later in 2016, including two shows at London’s Brixton Academy. She then heads to Australia and New Zealand in January 2017, before heading across the US.
