Bands Offer Discount Gig Tickets After US Government Shutdown

Thursday, 03 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

When the US government shutdown this week, we doubt Many of our American friends were feeling too pleased - but now, we’ve learnt that at least something good has come out of it.

The long-running Nightclub 9:30 - or, as it’s more affectionately known, the 9:30 Club - has offered fans 2 for 1 tickets in the wake of the news, meaning those financially affected music fans can at least save some money rocking out.

The offer extends to a range of gigs happening throughout October, and it wasn’t just shows at the 9:30 Club participating either - buy-one-get-one-free tickets were available for The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala and The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger’s show at at Merriweather Post Pavilion tomorrow.

Though the deal - dubbed the Affordable Ticket Act - has since ended, it was a unique and generous offer and a range of high calibre artists were included - as well as the likes of The Flaming Lips, Steve Aoki, Soul Asylum, Fountains of Wayne, and Greg Holden were involved too.
