Gorillaz Share New Track How Far? Featuring Skepta And Tony Allen

Monday, 04 May 2020 Written by Laura Johnson

Gorillaz have released a new track.

How Far? features British grime star Skepta and the Afrobeat pioneer and drummer Tony Allen, who recently passed away aged 79. Allen and Gorillaz member Damon Albarn shared a close friendship for a number of years, with Allen helming the kit for the Blur frontman's other band, The Good, The Bad and The Queen.

The track is the fourth to be shared from Gorillaz's ongoing Sound Machine project, following Aries featuring Georgia and Peter Hook, Désolé with Fatoumata Diawara, and Momentary Bliss featuring Slowthai and Slaves. It was written and recorded with Skepta in London just before the nationwide lockdown was imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Head below to spin the genre-melding new song, which finds Skepta spitting thoughtful bars. It's being released now as a tribute to Allen.
