Metallica will bring their live experience to drive-in theaters across North America for one night only this summer.
The thrash metal giants will be the first act outside of the country genre to be presented as part of the Encore Drive-In Nights series, with a pre-recorded performance set to be broadcast on hundreds of outdoor screens on August 29. Two prior presentations featured Garth Brooks in June and Blake Shelton in July.
The Metallica concert will be shot at a secret location near their northern California headquarters and will mark the four-piece's first show since September 2019, when they played two S&M² concerts to celebrate the opening of San Francisco's Chase Center.
Tickets go on general sale at 12 noon on August 14, with a pre-sale open to Metallica's Fifth Member fan club from August 12. Openers will be Three Days Grace.
Every ticket purchased, which admits up to six people, comes with four digital downloads of the band's upcoming 'S&M²' live album, due out on August 28. Check out the below announcement from drummer Lars Ulrich.
