Hear Me Out is one part of a limited edition double a-side single the legendary alt-rock band will release on October 16, with the other being a cover of T.Rex's Mambo Sun.
The new track finds bassist Paz Lenchantin taking the vocal lead as swirling guitar melodies bob and weave. It was recorded during the sessions for their last album, 2019's 'Beneath The Eyrie', which they followed up with two companion EPs, 'Beneath The Eyrie Demos: Pt. 1' and 'Beneath The Eyrie Demos: Pt. 2'.
“‘Hear Me Out’ is about things not turning out the way we hoped, but knowing that it’s going to be ok regardless,” said Lenchantin. “Black started the melody phrases on an old organ. I loved it right away, so he asked me to take a pass at the lyrics. The song has an evocative melody that inspired the lyrics to come out straight away.”
Lead guitarist Joey Santiago also commented: “Paz sounds like she’s talking to a guy with deaf ears. I did a western style riff at the end of verses, which was like giving her a gun so the dude would pay attention.”
