Neil Young Announces 1971 Live Album And Concert Film 'Young Shakespeare'

Neil Young has announced a live album and an accompanying concert film.
'Young Shakespeare' is the earliest live performance of Young known to exist and was recorded at the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Connecticut on January 22, 1971.
The stripped back acoustic set took place a few months after the legendary singer-songwriter released his third studio LP, 'After The Goldrush', and just ahead of his Massey Hall concert in Toronto which dropped as a live album in 2007.
It'll arrive in conjunction with an accompanying concert film shot for presentation on German television later that year. Watch the trailer and listen to a rendition of Tell Me Why below. In a statement, Young described the film and album as "a more calm performance, without the celebratory atmosphere of Massey Hall, captured live on 16mm." He added: "To my fans, I say this is the best ever… one of the most pure-sounding acoustic performances we have in the Archive."
The release will celebrate the concert's 50th anniversary and will arrive on March 26, restored on CD, LP, and deluxe-edition box set.
The news comes prior to the release of 'Way Down In The Rust Bucket', another concert film and live record captured in Santa Cruz, California of Young with Crazy Horse in 1990.
