Mastodon and lead guitarist Brent Hinds (pictured second from left) have parted ways after 25 years.

The Atlanta metal band announced the news on Friday evening (March 7), sharing a brief statement on social media explaining that the split was mutual and that their tour dates remain unaffected:

"Friends and Fans, after 25 monumental years together, Mastodon and Brent Hinds have mutually decided to part ways. We're deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors. We are still very inspired and excited to show up for fans in this next chapter of Mastodon. As we move forward, all 2025 touring plans will remain intact. We look forward to seeing you on the road. - Mastodon."

Hinds appeared on all eight of Mastodon's studio albums, from their 2002 debut 'Remission' through to 2021's 'Hushed And Grim'. They teamed up with Lamb Of God for a new song, Floods Of Triton, last September.

His former bandmates, Troy Sanders, Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor, recruited Tennessee YouTuber and session musician Ben Eller to fill-in for Hinds at their headline appearance at Tool Live In The Sand in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic yesterday (March 9).

Next up, they'll play Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 9, before hitting the road with Coheed And Cambria for the co-headline Infinite Arc Tour across North America between May 10 and June 8.

They'll appear at Ozzy Osbourne's Back To The Beginning final show with Black Sabbath at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5, and support Slayer at major outdoor shows in Cardiff and London on July 3 and 6, respectively. They'll also perform at Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire on August 10. Tickets are on sale now.
