Metallica have released another single from their upcoming album, '72 Seasons'.
Following Lux Æterna, Screaming Suicide is the second track to be shared from the record, and finds the legendary Bay Area pioneers staying faithful to the relentless '80s thrashy sound they helped create. Check out the Tim Saccenti-directed video below. Vocalist James Hetfield commented:
"Screaming Suicide addresses the taboo word of suicide. The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It's ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it's a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone."
The follow-up to 2016's 'Hardwired... to Self-Destruct' is due to arrive on April 14 via Blackened Recordings, and its run time clocks in at just over an hour.
Following its release, the band will embark on their M72 World Tour, which will see them playing two nights in each city listed on their schedule, for what is billed as a 'No Repeat Weekend': "2 Nights. 2 Different Sets. 2 Different Opening Acts. In the Round."
The first European leg will commence on April 27 in Amsterdam and wrap up in Gothenburg on June 18. They'll then embark on the first North American leg on August 4, which will run until November 12, when it will conclude at Detroit's Ford Field.
Further European dates are set for May, June and July 2024, and more North American shows, plus Mexico City concerts, are lined up for August and September 2024. Support on select dates will come from Architects, Mammoth WVH, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills, Volbeat, Greta Van Fleet and Pantera. Tickets are on sale.
