The Twilight Sad Plot Spring Tour, Post New Single Waiting For The Phone Call Featuring Robert Smith

The Twilight Sad have returned with a new single, Waiting For The Phone Call.
Arriving via Rock Action Records, the propulsive track features The Cure's Robert Smith on guitar and blends brooding synths and soaring guitars with intense, emotive vocals. Singer and lyricist James Graham said:
"Waiting For The Phone Call is about grief, love, and mental illness. These things took over my life and I became ill. I lost the person most important to me in one of the cruellest ways. I’ve always used writing as a method of processing and coping with my emotions. My emotions became a problem and I couldn’t control them, writing music with Andy… especially the past seven years had been both the escape and the opportunity to process and try and make sense of life.
"We’ve all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have."
Now a duo of frontman Graham and guitarist Andy MacFarlane, the Scottish noise-rockers have long been part of The Cure's inner circle, supporting them on multiple world tours.
The new single marks their first new material since their 2019 album 'It Won/t Be Like This All The Time', though last year they dropped 'Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants To Leave (Demos)', a limited edition demos version of their fourth album.
Alongside the new music, the band have scheduled a UK and European tour for April and May, which includes a stop at London's Roundhouse, followed by summer UK and European dates supporting The Cure. Tickets for their headline tour go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (October 31). The Cure's summer shows are on sale now.
