Super Furry Animals Announce Rarities Compilation 'Precreation Percolation'

Super Furry Animals have announced a rarities compilation.
The 'Precreation Percolation' collection centres on two of the band's rare mid-'90s EPs, 'Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwllantysiliogogogochynygofod (In Space)' and 'Moog Droog', originally released on the legendary Welsh label Ankst. It's augmented by a 22-track CD/31-track digital bonus disc that offers a deep dive into the band's early years, from 1993 up to their signing with Alan McGee's Creation Records in 1995.
The collection is due out on May 1, the week before they embark on their sold-out Supercabra Tour. As a preview, the band have shared the dreamy space-rocker Pocket Sam, an unheard track from '93 featuring actor and original singer Rhys Ifans on vocals.
The song was recorded to tape 33 years ago at Grassroots Studio in Cardiff, when Ifans fronted the band alongside guitarist and future lead singer Gruff Rhys, bassist Guto Pryce, guitarist Huw Bunford and drummer Dafydd Ieuan. Rhys said:
"The two-year ‘Precreation Percolation’ was over and, for better or for worse, our lives would never be the same again. But we live to tell the tale. The music featured here features some of the residue of that foundational period."
The band's upcoming tour marks their first run of shows in over a decade. Due to demand, they will also play additional shows during the summer, including the Bristol Sounds series, Live At Llangollen Pavilion series, Live At York Museum Gardens, London's Alexandra Palace Park and the Wider Than Pictures series in Dublin. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
Their last studio album came in the form of 2009's 'Dark Days/Light Years'. Most recently, they put out a 20th anniversary edition of 'Love Kraft' in 2025, which included a previously unreleased track called Rock 'n' Roll Flu.
