In the eight or so years that The Agency Group’s Natasha Bent has been a booking agent, she has booked over 600 shows in approximately 25 countries, as well as 130 festival slots at the likes of Glastonbury, Latitude and Reading and Leeds. Natasha currently represents a roster of 25 acts, including Foals, Amy Macdonald, Noisettes, Cage the Elephant and Passion Pit. At the end of another busy year, which has seen her sign Foster the People and Darwin Deez and travel to approximately 200 shows, Natasha took some time out to chat with Stereoboard about the life of a booking agent and the future of the music industry…

Two years ago, chart history was made when, after a four-year occupation by The X Factor, a Facebook campaign ended the hit TV show’s reign on the Christmas Number One spot by persuading over half-a-million people to go out and purchase an unlikely contender – Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’. It only kept Joe McElderry’s cover of ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus from the top spot for one week, but that was enough to claim that year’s Christmas Number One and become the most successful campaign of its kind.

London-based electronic music duo Goldfrapp have announced details of their first singles compilation, which is due for release on 6th February 2012. ‘The Singles’ features 12 singles from their five albums released to date as well as two new tracks, ‘Yellow Halo’ and ‘Melancholy Sky’. We Are Augustines’ debut album ‘Rise Ye Sunken Ships’ has been named as Best Alternative Album in the iTunes Rewind 2011 round-up in the US. The album is due for release in the UK on 5th March 2012. The New York trio will play at XFM’s Winter Wonderland in Brixton O2 Academy on Wednesday 14th December alongside Kaiser Chiefs, The Maccabees, The Horrors and Band of Skulls.

US solo artist Bruce Hornsby, known best for his 1986 hit ‘The Way It Is’, has announced two UK tour dates for January 2012. The singer-songwriter will perform at London’s Shepherds Bush O2 Empire on Saturday 28th January, followed by a date at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Monday 30th January as part of the city’s Celtic Connections festival.
