Swaggering to the top of the latest Stereoboard Hot Ticket Chart are Calvin Harris and Tiesto, the dance giants who will invade UK arenas in December for their ‘Greater Than’ tour. In their first week on sale the duo saw off late competition from Reading Festival, last week’s chart-topper and a fine affair that was headlined by Biffy Clyro, Green Day and Eminem over the course of the bank holiday weekend.
At number three, and making a leap from outside the top 20, are Welsh rockers Stereophonics, whose November arena dates include three shows at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena and a night at London’s O2. Just behind them in the rankings are boyband favourites One Direction, who will land in UK stadiums next year.
Bestival, one of the last festivals of the season, is holding on at number five, while Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters has also continued to sell as his forthcoming stadium shows, based around the band’s classic record, ‘The Wall’, draw closer.
Rod Stewart has been a mainstay on the chart in recent weeks and is again nestled in the top 10, with his September and October arena run including a four-night stand at Glasgow’s Hydro. Comedian Lee Evans and legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen are also in running behind Stewart, with the top 10 rounded out by Arctic Monkeys, who have an arena tour of their own on the horizon.
Slipping just outside the top 10 are veteran rockers Fleetwood Mac and American soul star Bruno Mars, with classical conductor Andre Rieu scampering up this week’s chart. Behind him are two big names in the dance world, with Rudimental and Disclosure both landing on the list, while Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath are in 16th.
Acoustic maestro Newton Faulkner, who announced a huge run of UK tour dates for February 2014 last week, Billy Joel, Selena Gomez and the stage version of Mrs. Brown’s Boys complete proceedings with spots 17, 18, 19 and 20.
